Pinot Noir Crafted by an Award-Winning Winemaker
For almost forty years, this winery has sourced only the best fruit from the best locations around the Russian River Valley. Under the watchful eye of their award-winning winemaker, all grapes are hand-harvested, whole-berry fermented, and finished in French oak to craft excellent Pinots that embody the Sonoma style!
The grapes for both wines are sourced from vineyards roughly 15 miles from the Pacific coast, in the “elbow” of the Russian River. Bright, sunshine-soaked days are balanced by cool air and fog coming in from the Pacific at night, making for the perfect ripening environment. This natural cycle creates Pinot Noirs that are ripe and lush while simultaneously bright and refreshing.
If Napa is akin to Bordeaux with its Cabernet and Merlot, the Russian River Valley is decidedly reflective of Burgundy. Covering almost 18,000 acres, the region has mastered the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties and makes some of the best French-inspired still wines in the US.
A Renowned Sonoma Vintage
Both wines come from the 2016 vintage, rated 92 points overall by Wine Spectator. Sourced from several blocks along the Russian River Valley, these Pinot Noir wines show two very different expressions of terroir, with one delivering loads of fresh red fruit, spice, and flowers; the other a slightly more muscular and earthy style that exhibits herb, cola, and mushroom.
The winemakers in Sonoma have honed their craft over the years, using innovative techniques and expertise to produce complex and well-balanced wines. The region’s reputation for producing some of the best Pinot Noir in the world adds to the wine’s prestige, making 2016 a highly sought-after vintage
History of Excellence
Today the Russian River Valley is best known for cool-climate grapes and still wines like Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and the Champagne-inspired sparkling wines they create.
Russian immigrants were the first to plant grapes here in the early 19th century, and today, this region is known for its cooler, coastal climate – making it one of California’s premier locations for grapes like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
