While 2020 was hard, it also inspired a lot of innovation as everyone dealt with a digital-first world in full swing. At WTSO, members voiced their desire to share wines with friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, and all the people they were missing. So, we worked hard and pivoted to create a brand new Virtual Tasting program based on the feedback in our community of wine enthusiasts.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working tirelessly to launch a program that is fully customizable to address diverse lifestyles. From professional networking to coworker happy hours and family get-togethers, we wanted to meet the different needs for all groups.
How Virutal Tastings Work
To start, anyone can simply submit a form on our Virtual Tasting page. It’s quick and easy. Options include choosing your wine preferences, budget, and whether you’re going to partake virtually or at an intimate in-person setting. Our favorite part is you can include a wine expert for an additional fee. This brings the event to a whole new level, granting instant access to so much more wine information with the click of a button.
We’ve been working with a group of certified wine professionals throughout the United States to join you in your own home — from their home. They’ll walk you through how to smell, taste, and analyze the flavors of the wines. It’s a totally interactive experience where you can get answers to all your burning wine questions!
Want more fun? WTSO’s ever-changing selection of wines allows you to experience new tasting themes frequently without getting bored. If you don’t know where to start, here are some popular choices:
- Similar varietals from different regions: Old World vs. New World
- Similar varietals from a specific region: Loire Valley Sancerres or Super Tuscans
- Different varietals from a specific winery: Sojourn Pinot Noir from Napa Valley and Sonoma County
- Different vintages of the same wine: Calla Lily Ultimate Red Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 and 2016
The possibilities of virtual tasting are endless. For more ideas, our team can help curate even more themes for you. For events larger than 100 attendees, contact our team to discuss logistics for a seamless experience.
Don’t hesitate — grab a group and sign up before all spots are filled!
I am thinking about buying wine and a virtual wine tasting event for my brother and his partner for Christmas. They like reds and would likely be able to do it in January on a Friday (after looking at the available dates on your calendar). Is it best for me to buy a gift card for them to sign up for one or what is the best way to do this as a gift?
Hi Linda! A member of a Customer Service team will reach out to you momentarily and help you set up a virtual tasting for your brother and his partner.
