Background
This wine comes from the Di Donato family's ancient farming tradition that melds the historical identity of Montalcino, its terroir, and the innovation that was introduced by a new generation. We base our winemaking art on a genuine passion for this corner of Tuscany. In this area of Tuscany, located in the southern part of Siena, the Di Donato family produces wines from individual vineyards, and only after predicting how the wine will evolve, decides to blend the wines in different proportions.

Wine Description
The color intensity of this Rosso di Montalcino, produced by Poggio Lucina, is the first thing we notice. It's a red that speaks of youthfulness, vivacity, and gentleness - a round, structured Sangiovese featuring fresh aromas.

Winemaking
After vinification, the wine ages in barrels, tonneaux, and barriques for one year and then sees bottle refinement for four months. This happens only after the blending method of Di Donato's family - they sit at the table, and after all the wines are tasted, they decide the exact proportion of each one to create a lively, fresh wine to fall in love with.

Poggio Lucina Rosso di Montalcino offers pretty aromas of dark cherries and wild red berries along with spices and eucalyptus notes that emerge from the glass. On the palate, this is medium-bodied and refined, showing wonderful structure and balance with fine, silky tannins and a beautiful touch of acidity which persists through the long finish.

Dark ruby with orange tinges. A little reductive and herbal on the nose. The rich cherry on the palate but with herbal notes on the finish. Polished tannins. (WS)
