Vineyard Notes
Chateau Roc de Boisseaux is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru estate, located in the western part of Saint-Emilion, near Chateaux Monbousquet and Fonbel. The vineyard covers 8 hectares where traditional grapes varieties Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) are growing on soils of gravel, clay, and sand. The estate is managed by Marc Rivoal with the help of his wife, Stephanie de Bouard-Rivoal - co-manager of Chateau Angelus - as well as with the technical support of Hubert de Bouard, consultant of the estate. Since the takeover of this estate in 2011, around 4000 vines have been replanted while the average age of the vines reaches 25 years. Each parcel of vines has its own viticultural protocol and is worked regarding its specificities. The vineyard is farmed following traditional methods, with great care and great respect for nature. The most crucial processes are done manually, such as crop thinning, deleafing, green harvest, and harvest.
