Pagina 1 is more than our first wine. It is a creative game that sealed a friendship and founded a notable project. Drinking it is to make yourself part of a unique moment. Born of two creators motivated by interlaced passions: Marcelo Pelleriti, winemaker and musician, and Pedro Aznar, musician and sommelier.

Blend: Cabernet Franc 55%, Malbec 45%
Vineyard Location: Tunuyan, Valle de Uco (Uco Valley), Mendoza.
Altitude: 1100 meters above sea level
Soil: Loamy, sandy soil of alluvial origin, with an increased proportion of gravel in the subsoil
Harvest: By hand in small plastic 12 kg containers
Selection: Double selection table and vibrating belt system
Vinification: System in 225-liter French barrels. Cold maceration at 8 degrees C during 10 to 15 days. Barrel rotation and pigeage by hand.
Aging: 16 months in French barrels, six months bottle aging
Temperature: Serve between 14-16 degrees C

The beauty and finesse to this wine leaves me speechless. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and incredible fruit. It goes on for minutes. This is half Malbec and half Cabernet Franc. This was 20% whole cluster fermented. Incredible handmade wine. A phenomenal red that shows the uniqueness and intensity of Argentine winemaking and soil.

Unfortunately, the 2012 Octava Superior was badly corked and there was only one bottle of it when I tasted the range, so I had to jump to the top-of-the-range, the "icon" category. The 2012 Pagina Uno is a blend of Cabernet Franc and Malbec (in similar proportions) produced in a similar fashion as the rest of the range with micro-vinification in French barriques and in this case an aging period that was extended to two years. In reality, it's a barrel selection of their favorite wines that they blended together. At first I found this quite similar to the 2012 Octava Alta. It is sleek and polished, powerful but elegant. With time, the Cabernet Franc becomes more noticeable and the wine develops more character and complexity.

Abremundos is the joint venture between Marcelo Pelleriti, winemaker and musician (Monteviejo, Le Gay, La Violette...) and musician and wine lover Pedro Aznar. They share their passion for wine and music and decided to create this project together, producing a range of reds from the Uco Valley in Mendoza. The first vintage was 2011. They have planted within The Vines of Mendoza in Vista Flores in Tunuyan. For now they purchase grapes from Altamira and La Consulta.
