Tasting Notes
Blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis, pomegranate, espresso bean, strawberry syrup, and crushed granite. Underlying notes of roasted almonds, suede, sweet tobacco, fresh wildflowers, and candied orange peel add complexity and depth to this heady wine. The palate is laden with a cascade of black and purple fruit flavors with hints of truffles and minerals.

Vineyard Notes
Oakville Ranch is the original mountain vineyard of the Oakville sub-appellation located 1400 feet above the Silverado Trail. In a place of dramatic beauty and dedication to being California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), these vines themselves are tended with the greatest attention to detail. Oakville Ranch farms its 330-acre property with orchards, vegetable gardens, and beehives - all cultivated in harmony with the untouched natural habitat which sustains native flora and fauna. Mark has his specific rows and clones within these vineyards. This makes Oakville Ranch Vineyards a viticultural treasure for Mark Herold, or as we like to say, "a kid in a candy store!"

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Herold Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon opens with black currant cordial, chocolate mint and baked black plums scents with hints of Indian spices, cedar chest and unsmoked cigars plus a waft of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with minted blackcurrant flavors, supported by firm, ripe tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with the spices coming through.
