2016 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir
Vineyards
This proprietary blend features fruit sourced exclusively from our hillside estate vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA. These vineyards are densely planted in rocky, volcanic soils from 800 to 4,800 vines per acre, leading to fruit of great depth and flavor concentration. Each of our vineyard sites is individually farmed, utilizing meticulous sustainable practices that best highlight the unique characteristics of each growing area.
Winemaking
Fruit for the 2016 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir was hand-picked between September 5th to 10th. After hand-picking and hand-sorting, the fruit is cold-soaked for five to ten days. Fermentation occurred utilizing native yeasts under temperature-controlled conditions in open-top oak, stainless steel, and concrete fermenters. During primary fermentation, tanks were punched down up to two times per day.
Tasting Notes
This seductive, elegant wine leads with vibrant floral notes of lilac and violet. These floral components are joined by touches of cherry, red raspberry, blood orange, and a hint of cocoa powder. Secondary notes of black licorice, berry bramble, and rosemary complement the leading fruit flavors. The flavors are persistent and saturating, enveloping the palate and lingering through a refined, balanced finish.

The 2016 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir from Archery Summit begins with inviting aromas of red and dark fruits which soar from the glass. Somewhat tightly wound now and needing more than an hour decant to fully unwind, this shows lovely earthy and citrus tones alongside the fruit flavors, showing very nice tension at the moment. This will cellar marvelously over the decade.

The first of the winery's 2016s, this young wine shows tart pomegranate and white raspberry fruits, with a hint of watermelon, as one might find in a rose. Fermented in a mix of oak, concrete and stainless steel, the resulting blend is lighter than the previous vintage, with a well-balanced, savory finish.

Medium ruby-purple, the 2016 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills has an open, spicy nose of crushed black cherries, warm raspberries and blackberries with notes of cinnamon stick, clove and dried leaves. Medium-bodied, it gives good layers of warm spiced fruits in the mouth and earthy accents. It's structured with firm, fuzzy-textured tannins and just enough acidity to carry the finish.
