Location
Chateau Laroque is the largest estate in Saint Emilion with 61 hectares of undivided vineyard, from which 27 hectares of the best plots and oldest vines are used for the production of Chateau Laroque Grand Cru Classe. Located on clay and limestone hillsides and benefiting from exceptional exposure, these vineyards offer a constant guarantee of harmonious, superior quality grapes.

History
For more than seventy years, the Chateau belonged to the Beaumartin's family. This beautiful 12th c feudal house was reconstructed under Louis XIV with the nickname of "little Versailles."

Grape varieties
93% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaking process
Plot by plot vinification in small capacity concrete and stainless steel vats. Gentle extraction via a mix of punching down of the cap and pump-overs. Protective maceration aiming for more flesh and aromatic intensity. Reductive aging on fine lees partially in barriques and partially in vats. First sulfating after 3 to 4 months of aging and the second during the following winter, before the bottling.
