By Chateau Roc de Boisseaux
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Vineyard
Chateau Roc de Boisseaux is located on the sand and gravel soils in the south of the village of Saint-Emilion. This terroir's potential had been noted for decades by some of the greatest winemakers of the right bank. Chateau Roc de Boisseaux vineyard covers 8 hectares with traditional grapes varieties.
Winemakers
Since the arrival of the Rivoal family at its head, with the technical support of Hubert de Bouard and Philippe Nunes, the property has been planted to replace all the dead vines. Every winegrowing plot has its own protocol and is worked according to its characteristics. The work on the vines is by hand (raising wires, leaf thinning, green harvesting, etc.)
Winemaking
Traditional with a vatting period of 3 to 4 weeks. 1 to 5 pump-overs per day. Separate vinification for grape varieties and parcels. Automatic temperature control of fermentation.

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Roc de Boisseaux has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and offers up scents of baked blackberries, raspberry tart and blackberry preserves with nuances of espresso, underbrush and bay leaves plus a waft of fungi. Medium to full-bodied, it gives plenty of savory, muscular fruit and a chewy texture with just enough freshness and an herbal lift on the finish.

Saint Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux
Red wine from France
The 2018 Roc de Boisseaux is a bold, juicy Saint-Emilion loaded with dark fruit, chocolate, cloves, new leather, and licorice. Flamboyant and exotically ripe, 2018 will drink well right out of the gate, especially once the tannins soften a bit during elevage.

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. This wine is made by Stephanie de Bouard's husband Marc Rivoal. Barrel sample.
Very purple. Thick and chewy texture, plenty of fruit, all very primary. A little too much obvious oak but the fruit is nice underneath. (JH)
