Bordeaux's 2018 growing season gave Chateau Haut Veyrac flexibility in selecting the ideal time to harvest. Their blend from older vine Merlot and Cabernet Franc delivers a ripe, rich, and polished expression of Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. Dark berry, plum, violet, and woodsy spice notes build through the mid-palate, transitioning to hints of tobacco, cocoa, and savory herb on the wine's lasting finish. At $19.99 per bottle, this hidden gem of the Right Bank is just a click away!

Saint Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux
Red wine from France
Drinking window: 2025 - 2038
The 2018 Haut-Veyrac has a lot to offer. Inky red fruit, blood orange, mocha, spice, rose petal and mint all run through the 2018. Haut-Veyrac is rich and textured, yet offers terrific energy as well. Floral and spice overtones reappear, lifting the finish nicely. All the elements are so nicely balanced.

Super rich and packed with Merlot, this is a densely powerful wine. Its intensity is just lightened by acidity, but tannins and the rich structure dominate and are likely to keep this wine concentrated as it matures. Drink from 2024.

The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Haut-Veyrac leaps from the glass with notes of crushed blueberries, blackberry pie and star anise plus hints of black raspberries and mulberries. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with bright, crunchy fruit, framed by rounded tannins and a lively line, finishing with a red fruit lift.

Notes of currants, cherries, and leather emerge from the 2018 Chateau Haut Veyrac, a medium-bodied, savory, slightly chewy Saint-Emilion with building tannins and a good finish. This wine is slightly less successful than I'd hoped when I tasted it from barrel.
