Tasting Notes
The nose is very expressive, with ripe red fruit aromas as well as spicy nuances. The middle palate is velvety and full-bodied with rich, smooth tannin. This is a wine of substance, with a great balance between ripe aromatics, finesse, elegance, and a long aftertaste.

This wine has great fruit, rich tannins and attractive acidity. Round and with ripe spicy flavors, the wine already has good balance. Its acidity and crisp final fruitiness suggest a wine that will mature easily and gently. Drink from 2023.

Love the aromas of currants and black cherries with blackberries and sandalwood. Full body, round and soft tannins and a savory finish. Shows brightness of fruit and intensity. Attractive balance. Drink in 2021.

The smoke filled nose with its spicy red fruits and tobacco leaf sets the off in the right direction. Medium bodied, forward, soft and silky, the wine offers purity of fruit, polish and elegance.

Solidly ripe, showing a nice flow to the cassis and plum fruit flavors, carried by graphite and tar accents. A singed alder hint melds through the finish, with a tobacco note lurking down the road. Delivers purity and charm. Best from 2020 through 2030. — JM

Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Olivier is a little reticent at this youthful stage, offering exciting glimpses at fragrant earth, black raspberries, black cherries and red currant scents with suggestions of mossy bark, bay leaves and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with mineral and earth-laced red and black fruits with firm, grainy tannins and a lovely herbal lift on the finish.

Following Denis Dubourdieu’s soil analysis, today this wine is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and favours elegance over density. Smoky aromas of blackberries, refined and pure. A light touch but no lack of intensity. Stylish and long.

Red wine from France
The 2015 Olivier offers attractive brambly black fruit mixed with briary and cedar. My feeling is that this has closed up since I tasted it just after bottling. The palate comes across a tad raw on the entry with harder tannins than before, although I suspect it will improve with continued bottle age. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

Tasted blind. Neat and sweet. Refreshing but not top-drawer. Fairly short term.
