2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Wine Description
A luscious Bordeaux blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a dash of Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
Tasting Notes
This luscious Cabernet exhibits inviting aromas of dark red fruit, blood orange, and fresh plum on the nose, with undertones of rose petals, cinnamon bun, and gingerbread. Flavors of dark fruit, black olives, and blackberries are followed by hints of moss and savory dried herbs. This age-worthy Cabernet has great density and length and is complex yet nimble on the back palate with a long, balanced aftertaste.
Vintage
We had high rainfall at the beginning of the season, a mild winter, and then we finally transitioned into a beautiful spring. There was an early bud break and flowering, followed by sunny days and high temperatures through June and August.
Vineyard
Our Yountville vineyard forms the heart of our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, with grapes from our Rutherford and Calistoga vineyards rounding out the blend. We farm all of our vineyards naturally, without artificial pesticides or herbicides, and they are certified organic. The result is a full-bodied, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with pure flavors and a pronounced sense of place.

Dark dusty ruby color. Aromas and flavors of dried figs, pencil shavings, hints of olives, and coconut with a slightly chewy, crisp, dry medium body and a smooth, engaging, medium-long finish with notes of milk chocolate and lemon-berry scone with moderate oak flavor. A firm and highly pairable Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gracious, mid-weight wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet tobacco, mint, mocha, dried flowers, licorice and wild cherry are all nicely lifted in this mid-weight, understated Cabernet Sauvignon.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored and blended of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon gives up scents of warm black and red currants, baked blackberries and prunes with touches of bay leaves, fallen leaves, tobacco and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firm and chewy with just enough fruit and an earthy finish.
