Terroir
These wines come from the vineyards located on the Miocene hillsides, north of the village of Cairanne, called 'Montagne du Ventabren.' Erosion has pruned limestone pebbles with rare flint, alternating with marl. The vines are sloping, south-facing, and well exposed to the sun.

Winemaking
Traditional in concrete vats without heating the harvest. Cold pre-fermentation for 48 hours. Delestage, remounting, and pigeage every day for six weeks with a controlled temperature between 16 and 27 degrees C. Maturing in concrete vats for ten months. No sulfur during vinification. Slight sulphiting at bottling.

Tasting Notes
Garnet color with purple tints. Light and overflowing with lush aromas of red fruits and crushed strawberries. Grenache at its best; fine, elegant, and powerful. Described as exactly what a Cru Cairanne should be - 'An iron hand in a velvet glove.'

Tasting Notes: Lovely juicy black cherry element with scents of bay and white pepper. Opaque colour, robust structure and chewy tannins. Nice balance.

Tasted blind. Youthful with some freshly baked bread, sweet dark fruits and liquorice and earthy notes. The palate is rounded with firm tannins and a subtle lactic note. Good freshness and layered fruit – opulent but not overworked. Lots of fun here. (AC)
