Lots of darker cherry and currant fruits as well as scorched earth, spice box, and spring flower notes emerge from the 2019 Chateau Le Coteau, a medium-bodied, beautifully elegant, seamless Margaux that shines for its complexity and elegance more than power. It's impeccably balanced and well worth seeking out.

A little known family-owned Margaux estate owned by Eric Leglise, located in Arsac to the west of the appellation a little back from the river. Lovely sappy plum and blackberry fruits with floral aromatics that lift this out of the glass and a savoury, mouthwatering finish - this is a really charming wine. [...] Tasted twice. A value pick.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Le Coteau gives up a good intensity of black cherries, crushed blackberries and cassis notes with touches of bay leaves, underbrush and cloves. Medium-bodied, the palate has a good amount of juicy black fruits with a slight chewiness to the texture and loads of freshness, finishing with a peppery kick.

Pale to mid crimson. Light nose. Certainly very fresh and precise with the tannins of the vintage in evidence. But not too much so. The opposite of heavy-handed. Dry finish. Flirtatious and reasonably expressive of the appellation.
