2019 Il Pino di Biserno
Wine Details
The purest and most direct expression of the unique terroir of Bibbona. The particular taste of the grape makes Pino di Biserno a classic wine with an intriguing aroma, distinguished by its excellent balance and timeless elegance. It shares its identity with its alter-ego, Biserno.
Harvest Notes
A moderate year with more consistent rainfall in spring, which made temperatures slightly cooler than average. Then, things warmed up at the beginning of June, and the vines blossomed - albeit slightly later than usual. The summer recorded average temperatures with good fluctuations between day and night. It can be considered a good vintage.

Aromas of ripe berries and fresh herbs with hints of wet earth and pine, too. Full-bodied with lots of ripe and round fruit. Lots of redcurrants in the palate. Soft and fine-textured. Slightly tight at the end. Dense. Better in two or three years, but already very attractive.

The 2019 Il Pino di Biserno is gracious and elegant. The style is much fresher and understated than before. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark fruit, mocha, spice, licorice and incense. Dark and vibrant in the glass, the 2019 is another winner from Lodovico Antinori.

This red delivers a mix of dark fruit and herbal flavors, with black currant, blackberry, rosemary and licorice notes. The finish is a touch compact now, yet this is complex and long overall. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2036.

Evocative blackcurrant fruit with vivid leafiness - combines excellent ripeness with great varietal typicality. Dry, firm tannins and a big burst of acidity on the finish. Tangy, resonant, persistent. Drinkable now, although greater rewards await. (RH)
