2019 Hallberg Vineyard Pinot Noir

Vineyard Notes
The Hallberg Vineyard's uniqueness lies in the fact that it is completely farmed with no irrigation. With dry-farming viticultural practice, the grapes fully ripened at lower sugar levels, leading to more complexity and heightened balance, enabling the true essence of the terroir to show through the wine.

Winemaking Notes
Fruit for this wine was harvested in the cold fog of a Russian River September morning. After hand-sorting, grapes were left in tank for five days to cold soak. During fermentation, three daily punchdowns were utilized to extract as much flavor and supple tannin as could be coaxed from the skins.

Tasting Notes
Our second single-vineyard vintage of Hallberg readily provides the depth and brilliance of fruit we have come to expect from this storied vineyard. The fruit from this vintage is Pommard clone. On the nose, cranberry, fennel pollen, and red licorice leap from undertones of cedar. On the tongue, its richness of fruit is on full display with dried strawberry, raspberry, and black plum, harmonized opulently by thyme and cinnamon on the finish.
