2019 Chardonnay Santa Rita Hills

Wine Details
This Chardonnay was grown at one of the coolest sites in the Santa Rita Hills, showing a focused and balanced expression of the varietal. Scents of lemon, French vanilla, and chamomile lead to a linear palate of crushed stone, green apple, and brioche. Aged in a combination of French oak and stainless steel, malolactic fermentation lends mid-palate texture. Finishes long with focused acidity.

Vinification Details
Fermentation: Fruit was whole-cluster pressed, cold settled, and fermented with native yeasts in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels.
Barrel Aging: 25% stainless steel and 75% French oak (25% new) for 18 months.
Cellar Notes: Unfined and lightly filtered

The 2019 Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills) is marked by unfocused aromatics and volatile acidity. That's a shame for a wine made from John Sebastiano and Radian fruit.
