Tasting Notes
Color: Intense ruby red color, with delicately ripe notes
Aroma: The aroma highlights notes of red fruits, such as raspberries and ripe plums, with enveloping and persistent tannic developments
Palate: The mouth is a progression of sensations of balsamic notes, alternating with those of ripe red fruits. The envelopment and persistence are notes that distinguish long-lasting wines.

Dried red cherries and plums, followed by subtle rosemary and dried-meat notes. Medium-bodied with chewy and juicy tannins. Delightful freshness gives an edge to the wine. A slightly toasty aftertaste. Savory yet harmonious. Solid and beautiful Montosoli. Needs three to four years to show its true potential. Best after 2026.

Remarkably pretty and lively in the glass, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Montosoli exudes the energy and radiance of the 2019 vintage. Dried roses, incense, spiced blood orange and cloves can all be found as this opens in the glass. It’s silky and serene with a wave of ripe red berry fruits that gain tension through a core of orange and savory spice. The 2019 leaves the palate stained in primary concentration and a layer of finely etched tannins, finishing pleasantly chewy and long as hints of licorice fade under a veil of violet inner florals. This is painfully youthful today yet packed full of potential.

Dark maturing ruby with orange tinges. A brooding beast. Very subdued yet hinting at concentration and with stony, earthy hints. Supple, polished and deep, with long, well-judged chewy tannins. Seems ready but there is much more to come. (WS)
